new idea

Post by ogrish »

what i want to do is make it so if you fall off lockout, anywhere.
Instead off dying you teleport to top middle of lockout.

i can add teleporters, but i was wondering if there a way to change the effect of the death zone to a wide plain teleporter.

so what do you think, mb a script or simple swap, or impossible.

You might be able to use a model resizer app to make gigantic teleporters, then disperse those around the bottom. A more bootleg method would be to create a large funnel underneath the platforms, using the invisible gigantic bridge planks, so that a person who falls off will be funneled into a teleporter. You'd probably have to create a series of funnels in order to encompass the whole fall-off-able area of the map. And you might want to add a dense plane of fog (Ascension style) so that the player doesn't see himself sliding down an invisible platform.

A script sounds like a much cleaner approach...

It was done with scripts on the donkey kong mod. Pure proof that it is possible. Atleast I think it was using scripts...

No no, the actual teleporter you see isn't what teleports you. That's just scenery. The actual physical teleporter is an objective. And to my knowledge, resizing objective's isn't possible...besides hills of course.

Ah. I was thinking air/grav lifts, not teleporters, although I'm not certain they can be resized either. I have yet to work with teleporters. I think they're awkward and prefer to design around them. A bunch of Colossus or Tartarus grav lifts would do the job, wouldn't they? You would be vulnerable in midair, but I think it would be bad for gameplay to be able to use all cliffs as an instant teleporter, as you describe.

Just tossing out ideas.

Those gravlifts you speak of aren't scenery either lol. Those are obstacles...atleast the one on Lockout are.

There's a unknown value that changes the width and height of the teleporter I think....

id like to see this donkey kong mod, i never heard of anyone doing anything like this.

ive added grav lifts its not the effect im trying to get.

I wasnt going to make it spawn you perftly in the hill zone, i was going to make it drop you from the sky, making you an easy target while falling.
So your still penalized for falling off the map, but instead of suicide or the person who did the tinest damage would not get the kill. Instead youd live or be cut down by the quickest during your fall.
