Containment fusion core problem

Containment fusion core problem

I saved the info for the bloc object expelled_core from containment and built it into lockout. I swapped the plasma pistol overcharge for that object, so now my plasma pistol spawns a fusion core from containment. I can move it and everything, but when I shoot at it, it freezes the game right when it would explode.

I searched for this and found other people with this problem, and the problem was left unsolved. Someone suggested nulling out a sound reference, but it didn't work for me, or I picked the wrong sound reference. I assume the problem has to do with the explosion itself. Does anyone know exactly where my problem is? Is there an explosion effect that I need to relink or null out or something?

I'm sure the sound isn't overly large. You could have just had the sound box checked when you "built" it into lockout, I swapped the Human fusion core into one of my maps and it didn't seem to have any problems, and if its when u shoot at it at all, the Containment core has a looping sound as well as the explosion sound, I'll try to build it into a map and see what your problem may be.

well...I saved the meta info, that include recursive, parsed, AND sound, built it into lockout, and spawned it with a plasma pistol. Both ways, either making the plasma pistol spawn a core, or with meta faking, and it still freezes up. I can't figure out where my problem is exactly. I guess I'll try to inject the sound in too, but if I did something wrong in what I just said, lemme know.

UpsetSpy, how did you successfully transfer that expelled_core so that it explodes without freezing, like in that picture? I've been banging my head against the wall about this for ages. I also found several old posts about people having this very problem. Is it just a matter of nulling or transferring the sound files like you say? What did you do?

What I've been trying is just swapping the proj of a pistol or carbine or magnum with the bloc tag for the expelled_core.

Here's a quick tut. (If you need deeper details just PM me and I'll make up a detailed version)

1. Open up Containment in entity and locate the following [Bloc]

2. Select the following options

3. Hit "Save Meta" and specify a folder to save it into

4. Now open up Zanzibar and do the same thing for the [Bloc]
objects\gear\human\military\tire\tire

5. Now open up the map you want to load it into and select options

6&7. Now build the Core and the Tire into the map, then unselect the options.

8. Select the [Bloc] tire you injected into your map and swap its HLMT for the Expelled_Core.
(So go from
objects\gear\human\military\tire\tire to
scenarios\objects\multi\containment\expelled_core\expelled_core)

9. Now simply just swap the weapon of choice's [Proj] for the [Bloc] objects\gear\human\military\tire\tire and your done.

10(Optional). Feel bad for MC or the Elite for begin in the middle of a minefield :P (I swapped out the SMG [PROJ] for the tut)

You MUST do all of the steps. You CANNOT take any shortcuts in this tut. (Well, expect for step 10 :lol: )
Only problem is the Core doesn't have the looping sound and doesn't turn from White to Pink to Red when its going to explode, but at least it works and doesn't lock the game.

Thank you very much. I appreciate all the detail. I got it working without any problem. I actually obtained the same result awhile back by shooting a different type of core, then swapping its hlmt with the expelled_core. But it didn't have the gigantic pink explosion. 8)
