Skinning Vehicles

Post by malumvolo »

Hey, I need some help, Ive been trying to learn how to skin vehicles, and I cant get it to work. Heres what ive done...

I wanted to skin a warthog..

Ive extracted the bitmap (using dothalo)

Converted it to a bmp

Edited it with gimp

Converted it back to warthog_standard.0.dxt2dxt3.dds

Injected back into the map (using dothalo again)

Resigned the map (dothalo)

and ftp'd it back to the xbox.

(Ive tried both the map itself [zanzibar] and shared.map

Can anyone find what I missed?

I read that You need to erase the cache folder and the x,y, and z files in your E: partition??? I found the cache, but not the x y and z.

I second that. Just internalize it with H2IB or Entity.

Just ran into a problem and I dont know whats going on...

I had it working for a while, I was editing the warthog skin on shared.map, and when I ftp'd it over, it didnt load my skins...

I checked to see if the bitmaps were internalised, and it said they were...

I dont see the problem

here is what to do.
extract the skin file .dds format to your desktop, get the Nvidia dds plugin for adobe photoshop cs2, open the dds file in photoshop, edit away, save as the same name, dont rename it, in Dx3 format inject it back into your map with dothalo, internalise it, re-inject it, sign map, close ftp, play.

YOU DONT NEED TO DELETE YOUR X Y Z DRIVES, THIS IS WHAT RETARDS WILL TELL YOU TO DO
