Playing Halo 2 on the PC

Post by Nadamee »

I have been modding Halo PC for a while now, and I would like to start modding Halo 2 to take some good screenshots, mess with some AI in splitscreen multiplayer, and to be able to play as other character models(ex: Elite Councilor or Brute) in splitscreen. I don't have a modded Xbox, and I really don't want to spend the money to get one. So, I would like to try to run Halo 2 on the PC to mod on there. Are there any Xbox emulators that work or another way to play my copy of Halo 2 on the PC?

P.S. I know Halo 2 Vista is coming out. I just don't feel like waiting.

Yeah sorry bud, you won't be able to run H2 on the PC. The closest you'll come to that is H2 vista.

Also, Modding your xbox is well worth the money (and it really only costs about as much as the Hard drive you want to buy for it...which are only about $50-200) I bought my Hard drive for $60, did some research and what do you know, I can mess around with AI in multilayer, play as different character models etc... :P

If it were up to me, I'd say at least look into modding your box, then you can do what you want.

hotswapping is dangerous, you could easily kill your xbox or pc power supply sometimes worse. i suggest you never do it. it's worth it to just buy an old action replay and original copy of mech assault for like $35.00 total.

Hotswapping isn't smart ... either softmod or get a chip (~$15). The stock XBOX hard drive can hold about 1 or 2 games so if you plan to just mod Halo 2 (and play other games from disc), then you won't need to upgrade.

the stock xbox hdd can hold all the multiplayer levels then some. Softmodding is free as long as you have the necessary equipment. If not then, it'll probably cost you like $25 for one of the necessary games and the memory card. I prefer hardmodding with a chip but it's all personal preference I guess. Anyways, check out xbox-scene. It's got everything you could possibly ask about modding.

When I soft modded mine, I went to Circuit City and found an Action Replay device. I then asked the store manager if I could use it to transfer a single file from my computer to the Xbox and return it afterwards, and he said that as long as I have the original case, all the contents of the box, and the receipt, I could return it within 30 days.

So I did.

I would have felt guilty about it, but I told them exactly what I was going to be using it for, and still they said it would be fine for me to return it. I already owned 007, so it was a fairly painless process for me.

Total cost of Soft Modding my Xbox: $0.00.

That said, I DO NOT recommend that people return your action replay device without the store's consent.
