can i rip a copy of halo 2 onto my computer and modify it then burn it on to a dvd and play it? or do i have to connect the xbox directly to my computer

Before you can rip it, you will need your xbox connected to your computer so u can FTP.

The xbox also has to be softmodded.

also u can have it hardmodded or if u have unleash x u can rip halo straight from u xbox dvd tray to ur hdd

whats the difference between hardmodded and softmodded?

hardmod = chipped xbox. Softmod = manipulating an xbox save into installing an exploit on your xbox. Both coming to the same outcome. Softmod's are easier for people who don't want to spend money or very little at the very least. Chipped boxes give lee-way to developers and more advanced of the xbox modification community.

Yes, if you have the maps then you can edit away just not play yet. Or if you want to begin making models/textures etc you can also.
