bigggg problem with softmod

Post by sCraftZeALoT »

I began by getting a SC disc earlier today. My friend came over because he has done this already and goes here (DDRMidgetID). We got the Linux Profile save from CodeJunkies, and we installed that on the Xbox through AR.

After installing the Linux profile, we attempted to back-up the Microsoft Dashboard. However, we later found out that the back-up was unsuccessful. Now we get a screen that has a number in the upper left corner (21 at the moment), and says 'Service Required, Call Customer Support.' It says this in multiple languages.

We ignored this and continued trying to find Linux Installer that DDRMidgetID has, one that allowed you to turn the soft mods on or off on the fly. We downloaded multiple AR saves to the Xbox, and none of them worked. One was almost exactly like it, but instead of a turn on/turn off option, you would have to uninstall the softmod every time I'd like to turn it off.

So not being able to find it, we headed over to Midget's house and copyed his Linux installer from his Xbox to his memory card, and brought it to my house. He had to delete a few files from it, but none were essential (he says he's sure), he deleted a back-up bios, but it still loaded.

We proceeded to install that onto my Xbox from the memory card, and got screens such as these:

The Main Menu with the On/Off Options

A 2nd menu in the series of Menus

The screen we got whenever we tried to turn on, turn off, or uninstall the softmod

So now when we turn on the Xbox and load the Linux save from SC, we just get that screen with the number and the "Call Support" on it. There is no way to access FTP or the Memory Card. Anyone know what the **** to do?

If you guys could, if you knew of this softmod as well, would it be possible to get links to where I can download or someone that could send me the files for the Microsoft Dashboard, as well as that Installer with the On / Off option. I've only got one Xbox, and I play Live H2 all the time, so not being able to wouldn't be a good thing. Thanks everyone that helps.

Edit: also when i choose to use the Linux profile in SC, it still takes me to the screen with all the languages on it . If someone could send me a fresh MSdash and explain to me how to fix it, I'd be most appreciative :/.

I posted there, is it the forum I should be looking at or another part of the site?

This is a standard two save SC exploit. Easy as cake.

From the pictures I can assume that you have already installed the softmod.
Now when you turn the xbox on don't use the eject button, that brings you to that screen.
If it is the power button that brings you to that screen then you have a more serious problem that only xbox-scene can help with.

Were there any errors while installing the softmod?
can you get back to that screen in the screenshots?

If you want the softmod off your xbox, just run a live enabled game and it should update your dash for you, erasing the softmod.

k if your getting error 21 it usually means your dashboard has been totally F'ed up. However with a 21 you can still boot discs. Just redo the process. Your MS dash is still there but your now booting a non fuctioning dash which is your new modded dash. If the softmod you used asked to install a new bios (Evox M8 for version 1.6+ xboxes and X2 4981 for version 1.0 to 1.5 xboxes) then you must pick the correct one or it will always fail.

also make sure you installed the correct UDE for your kernal.

UDE1 for kernals under 5713
UDE2 for kernals 5713 and above

that is if it asked you for any of those. If atb least 1 was aked for then make sure it corresponds with the info here. If you dont know your Kernal then your not in a whole lot of trouble, if you used UDE1 then try UDE2.

edit: load your SPlinter cell game and go to the menu and try loading a checkpoint. It worked for me once while i was fixing a box

however i will say no more about this. any more questions on this bring them to www.xbox-scene.com
