Map Loading

Post by am3r1can »

My xbox is modded and Halo2 is on the harddrive but when i try to load the new maps it takes about 10 minutes for the map to load on and it does this every time
How do i make it so it loads the map at normal speed?

its your xbox getting shitty...no kidding. It will probably only get worse but to help speed it up let it sit on the main menu sometimes for a min. before you play, then if they still arent loading keep switching between small maps like lockout and midship/ascension every 10 seconds until 1 loads, then all should load.

It could also happen because you made a big mod and it's Halo 2s first time trying it.

So use it anyway, and re-put halo 2 on your HDD.

Resign the map right before you FTP it over to your Xbox. Use an old map resigner for old maps (or just us the Sign Map option that most apps have) and use CMR for new map.

Also, can someone give me a link to download CMR_2. Thanks.

You don't need CMR or CMR_2. And it could also be the case that your xbox is not properly generating a cache. Loading the shared.map file takes a long time.

I had that problem too after deleting the caches. All you have to do is pop in your halo 2 cd and play off the dvd and then load every multiplayer map, then after that you can play off your hard drive without those loading problems or at least it works for me.

With a little money, i still have my orig xbox but its a little better. but what i did exactly to my xbox, hardware wise, doesnt need to be said cause it is not allowed. if ya know what im talking about go check http://www.xbox-scene.com

I have modded three xboxes now, and all of them take a long time to load modded maps. I have tried loading unmodded off the HD, and it goes the same speed as loading off of the DVD, so the hard drives in all three are ok. I believe it may be something like Bungie making it's maps optimised for quick loads, or something like that. however my friend said that on the xbox i modded for him, that if he puts the modded map into the y/z drive and rename it to the correct file name (I forgot which drive holds the halo 2 MP cashe) it loads quickly. I have never done this, but I know that once I load a multiplayer/SP map, if I restart my xbox and try to play that same map, no loading, modded or not! As for what someone said above about loading every map once (if I understand this correctly) only the most recently played MP and SP maps are stored, plus some other map files that I think are like Single_player_shared.map or something. So loading all maps and then having no load times shouldn't work
