If anyone ever brings something up about modding on xbox live, everyone freeks out. Well, modding is the same whether you are modding on live or just modding for fun. You are still voiding your xbox'x terms of use. If you mod you are just some low life that sucks too bad to accutally play. I bet I could beat anyone on this site blindfolded. Modding is the stupidist thing. Whoever found out how to do this in the first place should be shot. And all you people hate it when you get modded on xbox live, when in fact you are the ones to blame. All these modding sites tell you how to mod your xbox, have tutorials on how to super jump or have auto aim, so dont start fucking crying because someone says something about modding on xbox live, your just as bad as they are.

Look before you leap. Modding Halo 2 was going to happen, no matter what, it's a great game and it's fun to mod. We don't talk about modding on Xbox Live because that is, sadly, most often used to cheat. 99% of Xbox Live modding is cheating. And since people pay for Xbox Live, cheaters ruin the game experience these people pay for. XBC and Xlink are a free service however, and modding there can be fun, and perfectly ok. (Note the word 'modding', not 'cheating') We don't make tutorials for people to cheat, we don't make programs for people to cheat. We make them for fun, people use them to cheat. There are always going to be people like that. Don't blame us, take your fight to the cheating sites and report them.

1. modding on live is very different from non-live modding because live modding annoys people like you whereas non-live modding makes people happy cause its fun

what is so fun??? brand new maps, making whatever you can imagine a reality? what could be more fun than flying in you home made x-16 raptor or motorcycle? or maybe your own design of map?

I just said they are NOT created for cheating, some people just use them like that. Altering game content is NOT cheating, it's just modifying it. Modifying it to cheat is cheating. I've also not heard ANYONE complain about getting modded here, and we are also NOT as bad as they are. You wouldn't get how it's fun, and I don't know if I can even explain it. It just gives a cool feeling of freedom taking this game, opening it in a program and just doing whatever you feel like with it. Some people play through the game and say, "I wish I could go there, or play as that." And some people look at the game, "Let's go there and play as that." Some people accept things as they are, and some people change it. You only live once.
I'd rather change things to be new and fun than have a stupid level 50 beside my name, as I'm sure anyone else here will say.

First off, youre wrong. People at this site have no ill intentions to mod on XBL. That is why we have XBC and Kai for that. We fully Understand the Rules of XBL. People that are caught here using materials to cheat are Banned via IP, Email and Name, and their IGNs and GTs Reported to anti cheating sites. We Highly discourage cheating in every way, nor do we support X Box Modding. So please, Do us all a favor, and think before you speak, leave, and dont let the door hit your ass on the way out. Most poeple don't mod to cheat. I don't even have Xbox live. I started getting bored and wanted to do more with Halo, I didn't find it as a way to cheat, I just found it as fun. I went into a mods game on XBC and saw how cool it was, not how bed it was. I mean, everyone would want to mod Halo 2 if they knew how fun it was. I mean, "mods sucks", even you would, wouldn't you like to fly a Pelicant/Phantom/Prophet Chair, or drive a Shadow or play as an ODST, or would you just want to cheat?

That is an opinion. So I will flame all I want. And yes it is cheating even if it isnt to get your rank up. What your saying is that if I standby in a custom game it is ok because I didnt use it to get my rank up. Ah,no.

Keep in mind, "mods suck", that cheating is "to create an unfair advantage, usually in one's own interest, and often at the expense of others" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheating). Modding is about creating new and inventive content. 9/10 mods created here are never meant to be competitive. And the 9/10 of the remaining are designed to be fair to all. The remaining 1% is unfortunate, but typically never makes it on live, because the details of modding on live are not even studied (understand, it is not an issue of us hiding the information, it is that we do not know it, because we chose not to learn it).

I am sorry if you have had a bad XBox Live experience. But HaloMods (and the majority of modding sites) are working to maintain the quality and fairness of play. Not destroy it. This is the difference between modding and cheating. Whereas cheating is about giving yourself an unfair advantage, modding is about giving EVERYONE an advantage.

For the record, custom game modding is still taboo around here. All modding is meant to be off live. And standbying is not modding, it's an expoit and has nothing to do with this site.

Oh, and to Excal. I wouldn't ban him yet. I am enjoying hearing his views. I will admit he's a bit too abrasive for my tastes, but what is the worst he can do? His views aren't going to match anyones' here.

And I don't see what's the piont of cheating on XBL just to get your rank up. And I don't see how you see modding is cheating. You think that if I make a little mod and don't even go on XBL or XBC or anything, just keep it to myself for fun, that's cheating to you. But I understand. You got really pissed at XBL modding and then decided to post about it to get all your anger out, but next time, just think about what we wrote. We agree with you that XBL cheating is bad and is just ruining people gun. But what we do isn't, go to the people who are cheating on XBL and argue at them or something.

I am a Halo Custom Edition mapper. Some consider what I do to still be modding because you are modifying content from a game. Are you considering what I do cheating?
Also, you're saying that anyone who mods, in any way shape or form is cheating. What if you don't even have any form of online gameplay? What if you make a mod for someone who doesn't even have an internet connection? When they play on it are they still cheating?

Yes, they do. Microsoft doesn't, but yeah, 'nuf said there...
Also, super jumping and autoaim, how are they cheating if everyone uses them? If everyone plays with the same mods, then everyone can jump really high and have perfect aim. Then is it cheating? And don't you come back with the whole "it's still cheating if everyone does it", it's not. Not like this. Now if everyone used steroids, thats a different thing, that's an athletic competition, not a video game.

Even if that were true, we actually understand how the game was made. Did you know that the best two players in the world no nothing about it? They don't even know the entire storyline! Us modders know how the game works, so if we actually tried to exploit that, then we would be a lot better. The reason we don't is because that is cheating, exploiting knowledge of the game's workings in order to win. An example of that is the super jumps, we can physically SEE them with all of our tools and apps, but we still don't use them in games (please, tell me you guys don't do that on live...)
