Change Master Chief's Armor Color

Post by StealtherX »

I've been trying to figure how to change the the color for the single player Master Chief on Containment. I want his armor color to be steel, but whenever I spawn him with a plasma pistol it turns out olive green. Does anyone know how to change the olive green color to steel?

It doesn't really work like that. The MC's bitmap texture is typically white, and then the stem or spas tags add color over the white texture. I already tried changing the color of the texture and it didn't do anything.

That's only in Halo 1 I think. If I am wrong someone correct me.

You're wrong. Chief's base armor bitmap is white, it is altered by the color change bitmap in conjunction with a tag (I am not positive which) which determines the armor color. A way to do it would be to make the color change bitmap black and skin the armor, but that's not the proper way to do it. You'll probably have to look around the values in the stem and spas tags.

You can try to use the Color Changer App.

Doesn't that only change the color you see when you actually selecting it? I don't think it works in game...

Okay so I tried the color changer app and I changed the Olive color to steel but it didn't change it for the Master Chiefs spawned. It worked on me though, that's a nifty little program. I also tried switching between spawning masterchief and masterchief_mp.

I was also comparing the Olive color you can select as a multiplayer character and compared it to the Master Chief I spawned. They appear as slightly different colors where the Master Chief is slightly darker than the multiplayer guy. Maybe I just need glasses, I dunno. haha Thanks for the help though.
