I wasn't aware of that particular stipulation of the FW hack, Exile. From what I know of xbox security, the disc needs to be authenticated as an actual xbox disc. The .xbe needs to have a valid MS signature. After that, I had thought that the .xbe did any further security checking (such as checking the signature on halo 2 maps). If indeed, you cannot put modded maps onto an otherwise unmodified burned Halo 2 disc, what exactly is it that stops you? Here I was thinking it would only be a matter of time before our 360 friends could play mods like the rest of us (though there were the Live implications to go along with that).
Well, from looking at the way the FW hack is, it seems that you can't make backups the way you normally would(transfer from xbox to PC via FTP and use qwix to make the ISO) but rather you make a Raw copy straight from the disk(like making PS1 game ISOs?). I guess you can't modify the raw image so you can't add modded maps? IDK but that is what it looks like.
And I hate cheaters. I don't have Live(I spend my low income on other things) but I hate it when I play against a super-high-jumping, auto--aiming, super speed player who won't die(for some reason ). From my point of view, you aren't proving anything by cheating.

Shut up noob, you can too play it online. Just cause your a mod doesnt give you the right to be an ass to people. Show us your proof that you cant play this stuff online! We have a video there showing that you can, and you have nothing proving otherwise. Show me something, because I know you can mod Halo/Halo2 and play it on the 360.

Lol... Where was I being rude now?.. I simply said that you guys should put a little more research into subjects before making assumptions. The xbox checks the disc itself to make sure that it is a legitimate disc before booting it. However, people have successfully made 100% identical copies of game discs. This is why on every default.xbe, there is a media flag. A media flag has the type of media that the disc is meant to be on. A few types of these would be CD-R, DVD-R, or the 360 type discs (I can't remember the exact name). If this is changed it will break the signature n the default.xbe or .xex if you were using a 360 disc. What the hacked firmware does is it tells the Xbox 360 or Xbox that it is an Xbox 360 game disc or Xbox disc. So basically what this does is it allows people to play backups but not unsigned code. There is even more you have to do to the security sectors of some game discs to even get them to run but I don't feel like going into that. The firmware hack only allows backups and Microsoft can probably patch it soon anyways for that matter. It does not allow unsigned code.

We have no interest in making any mod or hack that is backups only - our position has always been clear on that. We have no interest in picking up table scraps either - although many many times before has our work been used by others - but that doesn't get bitched about - does it now
And as for modding Halo 2 on the 360, why don't you show us some proof? I have never heard this being done and I would like to see some proof from you.
Edit: Actually, after reading a little more, it does look like it's possible to run a game if the disc is in an xiso format and everything is where it should be. Apparently the xbe hash would only be different if the game was launched from the hard drive as it modifies some parts of the xbe before executing. I still believe MS will come out with a patch to fix the hacked firmware issue pretty soon so if he was using the hacked firmware, it should be fixed soon.

hmm... I wonder if it would be possible to replicate an xboxlive server locally aso it looks like you're in xboxlive when you're in a lan. I know this isn't what he did but it's a cool idea.
That has been brought up many times and it is a very complicated task. As far as how he modded I really dont know, since the xbox 1 firmware hack only works with an exact raw copy, so modding maps is a no. My theory is he might have included one of those maps as a download map and did something with it but it is very unbrobable.
I know it would be complicated but has it been done?
If I'm not mistaken the video on youtube had feeds from both blue and red team. Unless they got togather after the match or knew each other before the match then I don't see how the video would have both sides.
um... its not on XBL..

Are you really that naive? There are no freaking connection bars on XLink or XBC. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure there is no matchmaking system on those either.

i beleve its a Mojo thing, like some modding ass in matchmaking said... "oh man i soo kicked your ass, your a NOOOOOB, im SO much more higher skilled than YOU" --- and so on went the flaming.
that was said in postgame loby after my team lost CTF 0 - 3
well, its not easy to win when the other team mods.
