Trouble with .PPFs

Post by Annoyingredpie »

I have a hardmodded xbox with Halo2 burned on the Hdd with the 1.2 patch, but ever since I removed the 1.2 patch to try to get mimiesis to work ( I later had to reinstall the patch and deactivate my downloaded maps in order to get my maps to work ) any and all PPF modded maps will retun a "failed to load" message. So far i have tried the Dawn of War mod on containment and shared and also the Exodus mod on zanzibar. (anytime I try to patch shared.map it screws up all maps and I have to reburn halo to the hdd) stragely enough, my handmodded map of headlong works fine. Could it be the size difference between the original map and the PPF map?

( I have applied the PPF using both DotHalo and PPF-O-Matic, and tried to resign the maps with dothalo, Encryptomatic, and Coolspot's map resigner to the original sig (even tried hexediting containment so it reads coagulation) FTP'ed one of them over, deleted contents of E/CACHE/ and formatted X,Y,andZ. I attemped to run the map, got "failed to load" tried again with a copy that i used a different process on, tried again with a copy that i used a different process on, ETC... all copies giving a "failed to load" message.)

any help or even an explanation why I cant do PPFs would be appreciated

yeah...

yeah it is, but you can put in your own sig for the old ones. I'd usually just use that to put in the original sig, which usually dosn't work, even for handmods

Put in the original sig? Um... I know next to nothing about checksums, but the next to nothing that I do know is that the sig is based on what's in the file, so if the file changes the sig has to, too. Just use a regular old resigner or let Dothalo (or just about any other modding ap) do it for you.
Also, I've never had the 1.2 patch, but I think it's bad for modding. You should get the 1.1 from the maptacular disc.

Ok

yeah, i figured that out a while ago, i just do that cause i noticed that CMR resigns containment to it's original sig even when modded, and it works (handmods only)

also i resign copies of the map with encryptomatic and dothalo, which give the same sig, and I also got Dawn of War to work for a while, then it just gave out and PPFs didn't work at all.

Is this still typical of the 1.2 patch?

if so, how would I downgrade to the 1.1? just delete the E\TDATA\something64 file and then istall from the map pack disc?

if you can get away with it, use the H2 loader so you can use verson 1.0 aswell as v1.1 cos some things like grenades are eaisear to change on 1.0

but yeah, just use a normal resigner, the sig is much like a MD5 sum, if the files contents are different, so is the sig.

:::EDIT:::
As for downgrading.... no clue. i think if you delete the folder that ends in 64, it might take all your savefiles with it.
