new and original map idea: hell, i mean, school

the middle school i go to shares campus with an elementary school, and ever since halo came out, i was wanting to turn that campus into a map to own and play on. now with halo ce out, i was planning on making my idea come alive, quite possibly with the help of some modders

general layout

the campus/map is about the size of deathisland, but contained withtin a valley between hills. the middle school, serving as the red base, is farthest east with a high hill in the back that would serve as a good sniping hill, a good place to take control of early in games like slayer and ctf. to the north, there is a road that serves as the main road and connects and branches out to either schools and to the interstate in the west (not included in map) the elementary school is farthest west and would seerve as the blue base. it is due north of a hill containing a water tower atop, that hill also serving as a good sniping spot to take control of early in games such as slayer and ctf. both sniping hills will be king-of-the-hill areas and are relatively easy to hold, as long as you don't run out of ammo, because there is nothing atop the hills to further support you. the middle school has a football field south of it and there are baseball fields spread scross the southern edge of the map. between two baseball fields is a large hill that would also serve as a good sniping post and a king-of-the-hill area.

buildings

there are, obviously, two schools, both of which i would like to make as precise as possible and available to enter. both of the schools also have roof access at points via ladders inside the building, and supplies on top of the roofs. both schools also have armories which contain many weapons and supplies. other than the schools i was wanting to place a concession stand near the south-east ball fields and a simple stand-alone bathroom near the south-west ball fields

vehicles

i am focusing mainly on hogs to be in the parking lot, ghosts and a tank near the loading ramps in the back of the cafeterias or behind the bases like the tanks r in bloodgulch. and a banshee on top of each school. the best vehicles would be hogs and ghosts, seeing as they can traverse rugged terrain quickly. the banshee would be good for getting from place to place but would be a sitting duck for tanks, especially if they are stationed on the sniper hills. and the defenders have the defenses in their base, not to mention the armory, containing all weapons except the nooby ones (like the frg) meaning that assaulting a base with a banshee isn't the best idea. the best transportation would be to walk because you are very agile, but if a quick assault is the your desire, using a hog to attack the base along the roads would provide a quick in and out route, but leave you very exposed.

other

i was thinking of haveing some new items in the game. a lawn mower (one of the serious mow an acre in a minute deals) would be fun to use, especially being able to literally mow down the opposition. i was also thinking of haveing a vehicle to be used indside the bases, it being on eof those floor-waxers, it would be ideally set to be used on smooth terrain, like that inside of a school. i was also thinking of som enew melee weapons. like clarinets and tubas that you swing at people. if anyone likes these ideas and can animate, please tell.

no, my school is in middle tennessee, so it has a fair amount of small hills. if people think it could help, i could probably take a picture of the school area when i pass by it when my mom takes me grocery shopping or whatever.

btw i am glad that i moved this this topic b/c everyone @ the files.halomods.com post flamed be about being in the wrong forum and i only got posotive feedback from 2 people. and another thing, why sin't anyone voting? i put it there to see what everyone who viewed it thought, so vote! vote to your heart's content!

because there is no map yet, its a great idea only if it can be achieved, and you need to prove that.

it would be awesome, i already have someone helping me on it, but before we do this map, we r makin a desert map. he will make a quick 2 story base (above and below ground) and i will make the level. i am not sure if i should post a topic or not, but here's some pics anyways http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v25 ... d%20ideas/

btw i tesselated 4 times, raised the section of the map that would be raised (seeing as it is a plateu) and tesselated the raised section two more times. in total, the entire ground section has 24,965 faces and is
10000 x 10000 x 2000 (is this too much to go thru tool?)

yeah, me and my friends were thinking about making a map of our school for halo ce. but now schools over and the program my friend was making it with is at school. so we have to wait to the fall.

...and sadly, by then, halo 2 will be out and i fear that halo pc and halo ce modding will have died out forever...sure, you could still mod it, but every one with an xbox, and everyone who experienced halo, will have moved on to halo 2, maybe not everybody, but most of the people. and then halo 2 xbox modding will be the standard, and people wil pay much more attention to halo 2 mods than halo pc/halo ce mods...well...that's life...hopefully our experience w/ halo modding and the way bungie likes to lay out their files and organize them may give us a head start on halo 2 modding :wink:

btw, i just figured this out , and i know it is in the wrong forum, but i had to say it as soon as possible. in the level halo, in the very beginning, look at the marine sitting in the seat in the lifepod, the left eye, specifically (HIS left, not yours) then check it out with the 2x zoom on the pistol and you will soon find, after about 15 seconds of waiting, that his eye MOVES!!! and that he is, in fact, NOT dead, but merelt parylzed and doomed to the covenant. bbbrrrrrrr.... :shock:
