I downloaded halo ce today because some one siad it was free. Even the web site said it was free. But it asked for a key code. How is it free if you need a code. Now the site didn't have a code and I know it was Custom Edition because it said it right on the installation. So is there a code thats free or do I really have to pay for it or what?? Can someone tell me whats the story with ce?

Halo CE is free to anyone who owns Halo for the PC.

Yep, you need a valid (legal!) copy of Halo PC to use Halo CE, however since PC is only about $20 these days, I would say that it is well worth it.
