HEK problems!

I have been coming to this forum for about a month now, I decided I wanted to mod, model, skin, and map halo. So I downloaded HEK. When I went to load it up ( After CE was isalled) the cursor started the hour-glass and stopped. I was puzzled. When I tried it agin, the same thing happened. I was just trying to find out if this was a good idea downloading for 2 days for. Can you tell me what is wrong? If not, can you show me how to make weapons. I have Gmax.
