How do you open Single Player maps in Sapien?

Post by Bapabooiee »

First off, I have HEK+, so I have already extracted all the multiplayer and single player tags. I can open all multiplayer maps in Sapien.

Sapien just closes when I try to open a map in Sapien. I made a test, and tried to build a cache (map) file from the Single Player map, and I got the error saying... I think it was "Exception! Access Violation" and it displayed a few hexidecimal values, or memory location values. I don't remember.

I'm guessing these files were rigged as to prevent pirating. I made a test: I made a copy of, say, b30, and deleted ever single attribute of the tag in Guerilla, and the map still crashes in Sapien. But if I create new .scenario tag, and add any old BSP to the map, it'll work. But I'm sure that's a completely different story there.

Anyway, as I was saying, those files were proboboly rigged in some way to do that. And the people that created the CMT map-pack couldn't re-create a whole map, and all those AI encounter, trigger volumes and scripting all over again. That'd be a big waste of time. They did, however, add things to that map, like new vehicles, locations, enemies etc... And this could only be possible by loading and editing the map in Sapien.

As to the question, does anyone know how it would be possible to load a map in Sapien? Or is everyone going to be all Johny Tight-lips on me?

Thanks.

Yeah...

I'm no fool. I have extracted every single map with HEK+, multiplayer maps open successfuly, but this error comes up in both tool and the debug file Sapien generates:

07.12.06 13:37:56 EAX: 0xFFFFFFFE
07.12.06 13:37:56 EBX: 0x00000002
07.12.06 13:37:56 ECX: 0x00A4E2F8
07.12.06 13:37:56 EDX: 0x00000005
07.12.06 13:37:56 EDI: 0x0DBA7000
07.12.06 13:37:56 ESI: 0x00000000
07.12.06 13:37:56 EBP: 0x00A4E30C
07.12.06 13:37:56 ESP: 0x0012F0E4
07.12.06 13:37:56 EIP: 0x005AB968, 66 8B 04 3E ?????
07.12.06 13:37:56 6F697461 ?????
07.12.06 13:37:56 00000008 ?????
07.12.06 13:37:56 EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION

For why, may I ask? And I know it's possible to open single player maps in Sapien, because the HMT crew did it.

:]

Edit: If there were tags missing, such as shaders, it would tell me.

Well, assuming you have HEK (Halo Editing Kit) installed...

You need a program called: "Halo Editing Kit Plus", yes PLUS. They are two different things. Halo Editing Kit, and Halo Editing Kit Plus are two different programs.

Anywho, you get HEK+ and open up any Halo map in it, and drag all the folders to the extraction zone. Then click extract, and it'll place all the tags in their respective places, and you should be able to open the maps in Sapien.

I guess nobody can help me with my problem. Ah well, I'm used to solving problems without help :\
