when i go into tool and put in the jms file i made in 3ds max, i get an error that says:
building collision geometry...
### ERROR edge #2 is open (red).
### ERROR edge #6 is open (red).
### ERROR edge #11 is open (red).
### ERROR failed to build collision geometry.
### ERROR failed to import collision bsp.
I've seen threads like this before and i tried doing things people said but it doesn't help. I tried using that STL check thing, and it found 11 errors(all of which are open edges), but i don't know how to find where those open edges are.
anyone have any ideas?
open edges errors
Hi, this is covered in the Halo Wiki at:
http://wiki.fpsgamers.se/
Under Contents->Tutorials->Fixing Open Edge Errors.
Its a very common error easily sorted. Don't worry man!!

Hey,
You only have 3 open edges, and they are not that difficult to fix. First step of course is to import the WRL(i think its WRL or WRV?) file and uncheck all but the bottom option, to create geometry or something.
Once thats imported goto wireframe, F3. You will see the open edges in white. Zoom in on those areas. It will be hard at first to see whats wrong. Best to pan around and look at the edge from several veiwpoints. Just slowly rotate it around. If you see something sticking out, like a little line from nowhere thats probobly it. Or sometimes you have to zoom way in on the edge. What looks like one edge may be 2 really really close together. Anyway they are usually very small or narrow faces. Remember your looking for either a opening in your map or a face thats just sticking thru another.
Then once you see the problem you have to select the egde(s) and delete them. Yes, delete them, its the eisiest way. Sometimes if I'm really lazy I will just delete all the faces around the problem area and create them all again from scratch.
Another thing to look for are vertecies that are really close together. Usually it will not hurt to try deleting one of them and see what face is deleted with it. You can then create a new face using the verticies that are left.
After you are done click the select by name button and highlight all of the crap that was imported in. Then just delete them. It may take several passes thru tool and going back and importing thee WRL to get them all cleaned up.
Good Luck:)
