I open up sapien and I select the senario tag from the level I made, then when I click open Sapien opens and then immediatley shuts down. I also tried reinstalling HEK, but still does the same thing. Does anyone know whats wrong with it?

think i might have found something. there is a notepad file in the halo custom edition folder that is named debug. in mine there were about 200 instances of this:

05.23.04 17:12:16 sapien pc 01.00.00.0609 ----------------------------------------------
05.23.04 17:12:16 reference function: _write_to_error_file
05.23.04 17:12:16 reference address: 401b13
05.23.04 17:12:16 Couldn't read map file './sapienbeta.map'

is it a glitch like tools ./toolbeta.map file? or is it something else?

First, make sure you aren't editing something uneditable, second, make sure nothing in the HCE directory is read only, third, don't try and open HaloPC maps (just in case you are),and make sure you aren't editing (with Guerilla) anything that Sapien could be using. Other than that, I dunno. Update your video card drivers, etc.

Oh and these:

5.15.04 14:30:49 sapien pc 01.00.00.0609 ----------------------------------------------
05.15.04 14:30:49 reference function: _write_to_error_file
05.15.04 14:30:49 reference address: 401b13
05.15.04 14:30:49 Couldn't read map file './sapienbeta.map'

05.15.04 14:57:15 guerilla pc 01.00.00.0609 ----------------------------------------------
05.15.04 14:57:15 reference function: _write_to_error_file
05.15.04 14:57:15 reference address: 4011a4
05.15.04 14:57:15 Couldn't read map file './guerillabeta.map'

5.15.04 15:17:57 tool pc 01.00.00.0609 ----------------------------------------------
05.15.04 15:17:57 reference function: _write_to_error_file
05.15.04 15:17:57 reference address: 42ca20
05.15.04 15:17:57 Couldn't read map file './toolbeta.map'

Don't mean a thing. Apparently there were 3 maps, toolbeta, guerillabeta, and sapienbeta that the programs somehow used.

I have the same problem.
I've tried what was suggested & everything else I could think of but
I haven't figured out what's wrong yet.

Its a problem. Your scenario wasn't compiled correctly through tool. Try recompiling and checking over your stuff. It worked for me

True dat.
At least the tutorial level should work. :?

Do you have a crappy video card like me?
I don't really think that's the issue, but I know that my video card
sucks so bad that I can't rule it out as a cause.

I just had the same problem, after looking at the files modification dates I deleted the files changed the last day. Now I get sapien running again. I suspect guerilla of doing something wrong with a tag or config file.

First inspect your main directory and try to run sapien.

i dont think theres any solution unless you post a pic of a prob you have (I know, it just crashes). Also, post a pic of in-game HaloPC so we can see wat ur video card is like. and tutorial.scenario works, you just have to wait a little while before it loads. Its just like starting the game itself, it has to load the map and the app.

(i had not touched tutorial) and that workd too. theres a very wierd bug. it works sometimes and sometimes doesn't. i'm at school right now. when i get home i'll check to see if i can still open them.
