Making a base into a model

Alright, I downloaded a base for 3DS Max and exported it as an .OBJ

Is there a way I could make it into a scenery item so that I could place it in sapien instead of having to go through all of the 3DS Max base making stuff?

If that is not possible, could someone tell me why the textures on the newly created faces get all messed up after I place a base in 3DS?

Yes it is possible. Look on Halomaps.org for the Custom Scenery tutorial.
