Materials in Gmax

Post by reenact12321 »

I'm trying to follow all the tutorials for getting started in making maps, I'm using GMax, but all the tutorials use 3DS Max and from what I've found the Materials Editor and navigator are very different and I cannot figure out how to do the the Multi/sub object material as there are none of the materials displayed in the tutorial in the navigator, only basic colors.

what you do is to get to the material editor, press the M key, to convert it to a editible mesh, right click and say 'convert to editble mesh' or w/e so you can actualy edit it. You also have to apply a UV mask or somthing like that so it will show your bitmap's floor when you upload it to the map in gmax, its not easy stuff, just keep watching tuts, maybe you'll run across a gmax tut :o
