what to do with weapon tags?

im trying to PMI bloodgulgh to have numerous weapons. i extracted a few waepons from some maps and downlaoded alot more waepon tags. but now what do i do with them to get them in a map? is there a tut i just couldnt find how to do this? im sure its easy soon as i learn how.

also i cannot batch extract maps some reason. when i use HHT and HMT, it freezes almost instantly and usualy followed by an error. i use HEK+ but i cant use sapien with the secnario file without it saying "u tried to open a non-secnario file. Bad." any reason for this?

OK

in ce pretty much just delete the halo mod tools.

you wont use them in CE.

I dont feel like explaining how to import weapons. (import...not pmi)

Its kind of alot to explain. even though it only takes about 2 seconds to do.

To use a weapon tag you need to have ALL of the weapons depency tags extracted as well and if you want them in your map all you need to do is open the map in sapien and have an item collection made for the weapon so then you can add it as multilayer equipment by opening it in sapien and placing it.

that what i mean, i knew it must be easy just nodody wants to explain how cause how easy it is.

ok i i understand now, i thought it was something to do with sapien or tool. is there a reason i cant batch extract a CE map successfully? i tried using HEK+ to batch extract but i cant open the secnario file.

go to your halo ce root directory (folder)

open 'debug.txt'

scroll all the way down

copy the last paragraph, and paste it on the forum, then we can help u

i just tried doing a batch extract in HHT. its taken over about 2 hours and only half done. also itssomehow become over 4gb fro 1 map. WTH is going on?

ok yes im a noob. when i use HEK+ to get the scenario file, i cant open it in sapien without an error saying "you tried to open a non-scenario file. Bad." wouldnt my only other choice be to to batch extract to get it? also there wasnt a degug file.

IS there tut i can follow?

im a frieking idiot. i never put anything in mt tags folder. i always put everything in a seperate folder on my desktop so i cankeep everything orginized. i didnt relizethat y i couldnt run sapien. now i figuered it out and im sure i can find out how to compile everything easily.

ok im almost done with this mod of mine. out of like 40+ tags (yes it way too many for a bloodgulch map), only like 8 dont work. i still want to get these to work. 2 of them shut down sapien instandly (the mythos mech from extinction and hogturret from somewhere i cant remeber.)

the other 6 had errors when adding to the secnario and dont arrear when inserted. all these were downlaoded from halomaps.com

1. gauss turret (only came with like 8 files and no folders like bitmaps)
2. rocket turret (didnt come with a weapons file)
3. jackle shield (getts an error and cant be seen in sapien)
4. xm8 (gets an error and cant be seen in sapien)
5. x7 rifle (gets an error and cant be seen in sapien)
6. m14 (didnt come with a weapons file)

can someone tell me how i can fix these errors or send me new tags of these? also if anyone has any spare weapons tags of real weapons (M82 Barret, M249 SAW, ect.) can u please send them to me but fast cause i need to finish this map by tonight so i can give it to my friends at school

well i decided not to use these weapons. i finished makeing the map in sapein. however when i use command, it doesnt successfully make the map. after pressing enter, it says

"couldnt read mapfile '.toolbeta.map
usage: tool verb <options..>
build-cache-file <secnario game>"

what do i do?

im typing (with command in directory already) "tool build-cache-file levels\test\bloodgulch\bloodgulch" is this the correct command?

still doesnt work. i even tried tool++ and still doesnt work. do i need to redo all my tags and retry sapien?

after looking at the degug file, i had 3 weps with errors that i just deleted. it finaly finished and i played it. now what i need to know is how to have weapons start with ammo and how to make the weps respawn (they disapear after a while and dont respawn)

Placing .weapon tags within Sapien WILL NOT give you weapons with full ammo. They will just have no ammo.

To have them respawn and have ammo, make the weapons that you want on your map item_collection tags.

Then, in Sapien, go to Game Data, and open Netgame Equipment, and then right click on the place you want your weapon to be.

Then, change the Gametype Setting to All Gametypes, and then have the spawn time to how long you want the weapon to wait until it can respawn.

Finally, set the location to the item_collection tag, and your done! Save, compile, and test.

Repeat for more weapons on your map.

Not true, you can set how much ammo they have in sapien. I used all weapon tags in my map Target practice.

You may ask "How did you get them to respawn"

I will reply "The power of scripting"

And "I will never ever want to make respawning weapon tags again" (long script)
