So I just got my computer running, I installed halo, and halo CE, and HEK 3.5.
I've got problems with almost all of it, Sapien starts to load the tutorial but then closes, I have 32 bit high color set too. When I click on tool it opens then closes, it says something but I don't know what, Spark Edit won't compress a file. Spark Edit will also only load Halo levels, not custom editon levels, even though i changed the directory to load the bit maps there. The HEK says "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click OK to terminate the application."

I figured out how to make Tool run by searching through the forums, but now in the console dos thing its says a lot of thing, but at the very top it says "couldn't read map file '.toolbeta.map'" So if somebody could send me the .toolbeta.map file that would be cool because I can't find mine.

well .toolbeta.map is not avalible. im guessing bungie/gearbox has it stashed away in a dark corner. in other words, jsut ignore it.

as for the spark edit, you CAN NOT edit custom maps with it.

as for sapien, what is your computer's specs?

My Specs are:
2 GeForce 7800 GTs
2 gigs of memory(not shure what brand)
1 10 gig hard drive and 1 250 gig hard drive
AMD 4400+ Dual Core
Some sort of gigabyte hard drive.

With spark edit, I can edit normal levels, but not compress them into a save file.

Err... Do you mean HMT 3.5? There's only one version of HEK out.
Sparkedit can't edit CE maps. Only original Halo's maps.

No i mean Spark Edit, I edit CE levels with it, but it wont let me compress it into a save file. As in not a custom level, normal levels I can't compress into a save file.

Ok, HMT and Spark Edit are both modding tools for regular halo maps. HEK is for creating custom edition maps, and Sapien, Tool and Guerilla are all part of HEK. The sapien closing problem used to happen to me, it is because of the scenario file yoe are opening. Open your scenario file in guerilla and look for any red lines, it means you have to change them.

Regular halo modding:
Hmt
Dothalo
Sparkedit
Dont need halo ce to mod, uses halo ".map" files

Halo Ce modding:
HEK, Which is:
Gurrila: Tag Editing, specific files such as ".scenery" or ".projectile"
Sapien: Level Editing, uses ".scenario" files, it can place/move objects
Tool: The "heart" of HEK, it compiles everything in order to make your precious ".scenario" tags into a ".map" file.

To play halo ce maps, you MUST have halo ce, the map files are different and are not interchangeable.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HOWEVER
i do belive there is a hex string you can edit (with a hexeditor) in the halo ce map files that lets you mod the map with HMT
