Custom Weapon Questions

Hi all,

Okay, I've read the different tuts, read the stickies, done some searches, and so far, no luck. I've gotten a model ingame, and I've even gotten it to show up in MC's hand, but for some reason, this new model doesn't show up in his hand, and neither model I've made has shown up when stuck in the map as a new item_collection tag. I haven't the foggiest what I'm failing to do, and it's driving me up a wall, as you might imagine.

Here's an example, show below. The weapon in question is active, set to replace the pistol right now (though I want it to be a completely new one, see above), and should be the same weapon as what I'm looking at. It does work when I run over it, and it picks it up for ammo.

Side questions also - does HaloCE support smoothing? What about colored materials in lieu of textures?

Any help'd be much appreciated.

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum - I figure the problem is in my use of the HEK, hence the post's residing here.

export the model to your data\weapons\your gun\FP\models folder too, then compile the FP model with this tool comand:

tool.exe model weapons\your gun\FP

Thanks, unfortunately, I had already done that, and even did it again to make sure. No luck.

Double posted to bump, but with new info. I got the little turd to show up by replacing the plasma pistol, but it sits above MC's hand. How do I define where the hand grips the pistol? Is the only influence on that the frame or marker that I set way back as a max file? No doubt that one's a question best asked on the modeling forum, but still.

Still wondering why none of my new, non-overwritten weapons work.

I'm sure it's something I'm not doing right when compiling or populating.

...what?

You mean when I bring the model into Max (I use Blender, I despise Max and Maya), make sure it's centered on the world origin?
