tiff mapping in max

3ds max doesnt render tiffs correctly (or at least my version doesnt), and they seem to be a lot lighter looking whick can make it harder to tell if the tiling for the mapping is correct. is there any way to fix this problem?

if not, wouldnt it work to use a different format of the same image (like a bmp instead of a tiff) in max as long as the actual shaders used .bitmaps that were tiff?

render>environment no exposure control.That should fix the lightening problems

it is already set to no exposure control
