Well i have been working on this too, and though i have not figured it all out yet i still get some of it. Just open you weapon tag, and like 3/4 of the way down there is a link to the hud interface tag. Open this and find the bitmap that it uses, and you can use this as a reference. The problem i am having is there are things called sequences (or something like that can't quite remember right now) and you need to create them and use sequence indexes which i dont know how to use. So what i'd do if i were you is just make a new bitmap with a white reticle on a black background.
try to make it at the top left corner so it is in the center for the game.
Sorry i don't know anymore, but until i learn how sequences work, i don't think you can do it perfectly.

yea, i've found that much out too, i've also found out that if you do "tool bitmap" instead of "tool bitmaps" that it gives an error about needing a border around the image because of something to do with sprites. but when i tried to compare my reticle bitmap tag with the reticle_combined bitmap and my reticle tag, and fill mine in to match the combined_reticles one, when i checked out the bitmap and guerilla closed out. i believe the thing i did to make it close out was un-check the box marked compressed... again, any help would be appreciated

All you do is edit a bitmap and its alpha channel, or you could probably make a new bitmap all together.

no that's bot what he meant... he meant bitmap tags with a sequence of bitmaps in it.. in other words more than one bitmap in a bitmap tag... how is this done?

You need to compile a bitmap tag in tool, then change the settings and recompile it. Oh, and all those bitmaps need to be in one folder.

I'm assuming you could use kornman00 to fuse the bitmaps, if not, try giving each bitmap you want in the sequence a name like 0,1,2 or bitmap: 0, bitmap: 1. That's what you do to fuse different LODs together, so I'd mess around with that.

how do you fuse bitmaps?!!??!

i believe what he's saying is fusing the mipmap togeather, if so, can you please give us more details on it? like mabe a link to the "kornman00"program you referred to

Are all your reticles seperate .tif files? Because it'll work (better IMO) that way too. You just need to compile them, set all the settings in guerilla to what you want them to be, make shaders, then change the ui/something/hud weapon interface's reticles to goto your files, test it out and go back and make them centered in guerilla, and keep doing it until they're right.
The hard part should be the bitmap/shader settings. The centering is just annoying and time consuming.
