Ive been modeling maps in 3ds Max for Counter Strike source for a while so I know what I'm doing what I'm doing with that. But I really want to start making maps for halo. But I cant get any of the default halo CE map files to open in 3DS MAX. what would I use to decompile them so I can build upon the wireframe, add to the skybox and whatnot in 3dsmax? it would be very useful because I would be able to copy structures such as the bases from blood gulch for example, and use that for whatever map I decide to create.
any help is appreciated,
thank you for your time

How Do I Open Existing CE Maps In 3DS MAX?
It would be best not to do that. It is possible to decompile the make with HEK+, then extract the bsp as a .obj for use in 3ds max (the only way) but it always comes with open edges, and many errors that you would have to fix. Luckily, just about any base, object, or model you need can be found at www.halomaps.org. I was able to find all the bases, a few turrets, many custom vehicles, weapons etc...
