Tool Problem - model file wrong version number?

Post by FiReToY »

Hey so im trying to make this map myself...and have NO IDEA what im doing so im following the video tutorials step-by-step and i run into an error...the video doesnt talk about errors (probably because theres so many) so im coming here im hopeing for a quick reply before i REALLY mess somthing up but anyway...the error is when im after created the enviornment tag shader (i guess), and try and run it in tool (im guessing) i get this error

###ERROR model file has wrong verison number.

Im pretty sure its because of the tag i created...and its because of the map im making...im trying for it to just be a soild color...and when it came to the section when i had to figure out the texture (iguess) in guerilla of the grass and ground i left them blank...was that wrong?

(im guessing guerilla only does enviornment effects) so what im gonna do is just put it like the tutorial and hope it doenst change the way the map looks at all.... *crosses fingers* Help me out if you have a clue....

Okay so i searched this place's forums and everybody who has come up with the same problem hasn't gotten and answer back SO i figured either NOBODY knows (and i should start-the-f**K-back-over with my map) or people are being a**holes and don't wanna post how they fixed this. Its an common error it would seem so sombody should have an answer eh. Imma get working on the new map again...post here if you guys figure out how to do it...so i dont have to make a new map. Grrrr.....

I know the answer because I had this problem too I think. Make sure that you have applied a material to all of you faces. Sounds simple but its the simple things in life that screw u over.

Try just making the texture a solid color and give it some self-illumination settings so it isn't effected by shadows (if that's what you meant).

You'd have to go back to the 3dsmax part though. You can copy the scenario and all that back over when you compile (keep the new bsp though), and it all should work out okay.
