Is it possible to make a super-melee?

I am working on a mod right now, and the perfect finishing touch for it would be a melee that would launch vehicles or other players through the air. I think increasing the force value of the attack will probably work on other players (at least that's my theory - haven't tested it yet) but it seems to do nothing for vehicles, even ones with their gravity or weight turned down significantly. Is anyone aware of a way to do this through current known methods such as HMT, or am I out of luck? Thanks.

Force will only work on players (as far as my knowlage goes). Not sure about the vehicles though....

if the perfect touch to you mod would be making meelee attacks spawn vehicles, you are working on a very strange mod.

Thats because Vehicles have crush defense. Like assault rifle bullets won't send a vehicle flying. You have to change the Id of damage of melee to grenade explosion I believe.

Not spawn them - if you hit them, they will fly away from you. It's a pseudo-superhero mod, with lots of heavy duty (REALLY heavy duty) weapons. Basically anything and everything will make players and vehicles fly all over the map, but it doesn't kill you instantly like you would expect.

Deadly Shadow, thanks for the tip - I'll check it out.

hmmm, no luck yet. I tried changing both the melee and melee response to type = Explosion. that had no obvious effect. I increased the force rating on both as well with no luck. I also found a setting under damage for cyborg melee - tried amping up the force on that and changing its type to explosion also, with no luck.

I did notice something that might be relevant, also. I had previously changed the pistol projectile to the mp gun turret, and given it a force rating of like 20. Well, that will very effectively flip vehicles over on a direct hit. Its type id is not set (shows up with nothing selected in HMT). Curious....

Force does work on vehicles it seems. I know for sure that force in either an explosion or a shockwave will send vehicles flying (esp. if you tamper with their weight and/or gravity setting). Part of my mod includes thermonuclear-grade grenades and rockets that within a few hundred feet of any vehicle, will make it literally fly to the ceiling of the map (as well as sending the players in the viscinity soaring). I know it's only the force rating doing that, because initially I didn't change anything else. Also as I mentioned, the force I added to a c gun turret projectile will flip vehicles up into the air, and it's set relatively "low" (only to 20, heh heh).

If you melee Warthog it moves very little but does move. Maybe if you crank that up so when you melee it it goes farther. Oh nevermind. I'll try it in Halo Map Tools V3. Be right back.

sry, 2 my knowledge it cant affect vehicles, cuz i had a mod that gave all my attacks tank shell damage, it would send grunts flyin and all (heh heh heh) but didnt affect vehicles whatsoever (i even was stupid enough 2 try this on a moving ghost w/ an elite inside) notta

Changing gravity to zero will make it move when you hit it but it doesnt go very far. this was with force 999999999999. i tried changing weight to 1 or 0 and putting gravity on 0 but the warthogs would disappear before i could even get near them (dont know why).

All you have to do to make elites go flying is increase the force rating of the melee. Doesn't work on vehicles though.

There must be some value that controls how much the vehicles move when you melee them. For instance, a hog will move more than a tank. And a pelican doesn't move at all.

I know the vehicle weight is a factor; the problem is, I can't just crank down the weight without seriously affecting the overall physics, which is not what I want.

Um...bass? Care to share anytime soon?

dale, when you mess with the weight do you make sure to keep all the physics in proportion? that is very important, so far ive made the weight 500 and there was little change in the overall physics, just keep everything in proportion.

i changed the force of my bullets in my uzzi(moddified pistol)

so whenever i shoot something....they go flying

in the halo level....at the begining i perched myslf on the cliffs and shot a jackels shield and the jackel went flying!

he was still alive until he hit the ground lol
