hey everyone i just started modding halo pc and this is kinda weird when i downloaded hmt i opened it and tried to open a map but all i keep getting is this message

Use Eschaton 0.7.2

shins? you mean skins? goto the bitm tag class, and click load, then you can see the skin, then you can import a new .dds skin or inject over a previous one.

ok i understand that but when i click on the bitmap that i want to extract it tells me that "meta not found: tag does not exist in map file"

is there a bitmaps.map file in the same directory as the map you opened is in? if not then that map is broken, or not a real map.

it must be broken or not real cuz it is in the folder, you know where i could get one?

there is a bitmaps.maps file in there, otherwise halo wouldn't run

well everything i try to do with the bitmaps.map it freezes the program i am using so i dono

Are you doing it with a Trial or CE map?

its a ce map

You need to convert the map before it can be opened in HMT.
HMT only supports PC maps.

That means that the tag you're looking at is an indexed tag. Colloquially known as "1's" back when we were using C#MT to convert CE maps to PC. The tag data isn't in the map file. It's in loc.map. To be honest I don't know if loc.map uses a support map structure (like sounds.map and bitmaps.map) or if it uses a playable map structure (like ui.map). If I had to guess I'd say it's probably in a support map structure which Eschaton 0.7.2 doesn't read. You might bug conure about how to play with those.

my mistake i figured it out i just reinstalled halo pc something got messed up somehow but it all works now

aw, the good old days, maybe not.... Anyway, conure does not plan on posting around here anytime soon.

I ate the cookie he gave me :<

He has varies things attributed as to why he is gone for now, but he said he may be ending his development career in regards to halo.

Well I spend tons of time chatting and testing with him a lot of his codes. Tell him to at least try to stop by to say hello.
