EDIT:

Im currently typing this from a backup PC since my main rig went down last night. Im talking about complete failure. I trace the source of the issue to a instance of me de-fragmenting my hard drive not to long ago and and now my comp won't boot cause it's saying my bootmsg is compressed. The only cure for this is having the install CD and repairing it from the actual CD to which sadly I don't have.

So this is leaving me with 2 options..

A. Find someone with WinXP Pro and trying their disk.
B. Moving Forward and just going to Vista.

I think im finally going to enter the Vista age and do a complete reformat. I have a blank hard drive for a fresh install but my hopes is that everything on my main drive is not lost. I havent tried hooking it up on this machine so im not for sure yet. If the files on my main drive are fooked then FTW2 is a complete wash and I might have to begin it all over again. Hurray for me >_>

Everything is closed today and I can't talk about my alternative means cause of forum rules but people are not stupid so wish me luck I suppose. Ill make a thread in modding discussion on this since it involves FTW2's progress and people can leave comments there instead of this thread.

Best of luck to those who entered the contest and merry xmas to thoes that are celebrating today!

-Shawn

Tucker933-

I liked your mod. It had a lot of elements of game play that were enhanced through your mod. It wasn't completely aesthetic.
The weapon modifications were fun, and they looked cool as well. It was fun picking something up and wondering what it did. I could see some work put into it, and you did well on it.

Mr. Brightside-

Again, a cool mod. I enjoyed the models a lot; and the switch between having a winter environment to a jungle-like environment was done well. I didn't play it with anyone, so I can't really rate on gameplay elements.

DeadHamster-

It was a cool eye-candy mod. I could see the effort you put into it, and I thought the water plane was especially cool.

Andrew_b-

I enjoyed playing your mod online with a few other HM members. The 3 guns were pretty cool, and they were a challenge to get used to, which was cool. I liked how you mixed up the one hit kills, yet having no sights. The map wasn't too big for it's purpose, so a small party could enjoy it.

Guysullavin-

As I've stated before, it's an ok model, but it doesn't work well in first person.

It's a close call between Andrew_b and Tucker, but I ultimately chose Andrew. I liked the introduced elements into the gameplay; it made for a few great rounds.

Mr.Brightside: I really liked his mod because of the ice to jungle transition he made with the map, there were a few things he skimped on, like changing the rocks from pearly white to maybe something more jungleish and the assault rifle was neat but i didn't like how it looked and shot like a sniper, damage was altered though so it wasn't overkill or anything but I feel it could cause too many particle effects in a fight, maybe some particle loss and it just doesn't look good. :? But the models in the mod were great and made it a really great contender and I liked the little sleeping grunt you added in.

DeadHamster: I really loved the skin work done here, you really got the feel you wanted with the futuristic look and the fact that it appears to be joiner friendly.
While the skins looked GREAT, I felt you could have done more work on it with maybe the shield's you spoke of earlier or effect and lighting work to mix up the gameplay and to give it a bigger sense of a mod.

guysullivan: I loved the remodel but, I was looking for more of a map... :?

My Vote: Andrew_b:
This mod was very fun to test, I enjoyed every one of my 150 kills I got on you guys :P the gameplay took some skill and getting used to, as well as a computer which didn't lag apart with all the decals *cough* Andrew's *cough cough* but it was fun, and to me that's what mattered, yes it may be an old concept, but lets think here, who made it old? Who came up with this type of gameplay in the first place, yes he did it before but I am judging the fun level and quality, it was fun to play and I can tell the ESRB liked his mod
It what a mod should be, fun, an improvement and departure from normal gameplay. I loved the models and the weapons and well as how the projectiles were modded to look like actual paintballs, and spread and loose altitude nicely.

There's my vote.

Tucker933: Mod was very balanced. I enjoyed the new weapons and vehicles. The banshee was amazing. I also enjoyed the new scenery. I did see that you had dead/desert looking trees on the sand, and pine trees on the grass. Good thinking. Good job on that pelican crash, it looked real with the effects you added. Also, why was there a random burning log in the cave? :?: Anyways, my crappy computer doesn't allow me to play the mod to it's full potential.

Mr. Brightside: That's alot of hawgs. Anyways, I played the mod for about 10 minutes just trying to get a feel. Good job on the skins and good job on the hogs. I liked the buggy hog, even though there were stray verts. Overall, I thought everything but the middle of the map was a bit dark. I didn't like how the grass was slippery (I believe you could have changed that). I also didn't like the white rocks. Also why were there flipped hogs by the blue base?

DeadHamster: Your skins made my computer lag. >:|. Good job on the skins. They took a little while to get used to. What happened to, "Diamonds are ugly!!"? Good job with everything, and also, nice going on the water.

Guysullavin: I want more modz.

JK-47: I HAS NO MIC.

Well, I guess my vote goes to Tucker933. His mod felt more finished than Brightside's. Also, since DH just has some new skins, it couldn't really compete with actual modded maps.

I vote for Mr Brigtside, its really nice.

Also, if this contest is like the previous one I'm pretty sure DH doesn't want a single skin or a single model.

Tucker933.

Also yes I did, but it hardly matters. At this point the voting has ended, and in a close race between tucker and A_b, tucker has won, for the second month in a row.

Congratulations to the winner, and also congratulations to Andy, the fact that it was close like it was shown that these to maps were great, both in their own respects.

I personally voted for tucker because I saw and knew firsthand the amount of work he put in, the amount of caring and persistence he puts into every mod he makes, and it shows, as his map is truly spectacular, IMO one of the better mods I've seen lately. His attention to detail has surpassed that of any modder that still works today, and the most minute details really bring out the true beauty his maps have to offer. My one irk, being that his map remains unskinned and still retains the feel and distaste I have for bloodgulch, is completely blocked out by his intense amount of tag work and the final result of careful balancing for the sake of teamwork and gameplay. I greatly appreciate the breath of life he's bringing into this modding community, as it makes my attempts at doing the same much less of a burden.

I also want to congratulate Andrew_b, as your map was also of a high quality. The reskinned textures were both amusing and satisfying to change the feel of timberland in even the slightest bit. The use of marine bipeds, especially swapping them in the [matg] tag class, was a bit of intellect that unfortunately goes unseen, as the user is highly unlikely to go through every tag to see the map. And the same goes for the nulling of vehicles, you hinted that the respawns remained, although they didn't spawn, I instantly knew how, but unfortunately others weren't able to see the resourcefulness on your part.
---Even with seeing that, there's only so much you can do with a paintball mod. You did all you could, but ultimately you were stopped by what you couldn't. Although, I would've liked to have seen some form of paint grenades, I understand your reasonings for not, but It would've been nice to see.

Once again, a huge thanks to all that chose to participate, I hope to see another turnout, either as well or better then this for the next month. Thank you all.
