Sniper nightvision and the flashlight...

Post by tucker933 »

I am currently working on a mod which happens to take place at night, there's a problem I have encountered, where, when someone is using a sniper rifle, they turn on night vision, and everyone see's the players flashlight turn on. And the player doesn't see that their flashlight is on, it only appears to other players when someone uses the night vision on their sniper. This really gives away a sniper position to the enemy in a dark map, I hate it, I at first thought it was a bug but after looking into this and trying for hours to fix it I am actually starting to believe its normal... It's just not normally noticed because most halo maps aren't very dark, not dark enough to see the flashlight anyway.
If this is a bug, anyone know how to fix it?
If this isn't a bug, is there still a way to fix it? Andrew said that there is a way to make the flashlight only viewable to the player, that's good enough, if this is unfixable then that will at least mask the problem, but I have yet to figure out how to do that... Any help? Pleaseee?

You would have to edit the glow/light effect for the flashlight to be 0

edit all tags below:

ligh
flashlight_cyborg
flashlight_marine

lens
flashlight_cyborg

also look at the effe tags, they might be there too.

EDIT: yes, under the ligh flashlight_cyborg tag, change the radius to .000001 or 0 and you should not have anymore light, or have a lazer-sight effect going on...

Thanks, but this mod kind of needs a flashlight, what I meant was, if this "bug" isn't fixable if I could make it so only the flayer see's his own flashlight, and no one else can. Andrew said there was a way but I couldn't find it.

Does it NEED to be a nightvision button? If not just make the stock scope have the green overlay. Problem Solved.
