you could just extract the sound decrease the volume of it to 0, save and re-inject.

when i play a HPT/scrim, i jack the sound up on smaller maps so i can hear everything but the ambience ruins my headphones... and my ears lol.

LOL WUT explain yourself or you're going in mah sig.
Anyway, to null out the sound on parts of or all of maps, use a depedency swapper to null out the sound references in the looping sound tags. Then you can swap it back in again if you want it back.

Quoted I luled.
@botternub vague means obscure, unclear etc.
{TP}-spartan was saying extract the sound with HMT, set the volume to 0 in a sound editing program then re inject it with HMT. Heres a tut to edit sound

Why are you listening at full volume?
All you need to do is exactly what people are saying, go into chillout with HHT and null out the sound.

There is no reason to be playing at full volume.
This may or may not be what you are looking for:
Mess around in HMT and figure it out yourself (there was no dependency for this in HHT).

Change some values to zero and test it out.

I'll confirm that an awesome sound card on higher levels, you are able to hear the location of every weapon fired, and any nearby steps made by users.
