Would something like this sync online?
I just had a couple ideas that would be pretty cool for online play.

What exactly would happen if I did put this online? Would the door open at different times for people?

It will not work. If you put it online and people walked over to it, they wouldn't see it, because it isn't on their copy of the map, if they were to walk into it, they would just hit an invisible wall until it opened because the mod exists on the host server, not the clients, they still have to play by the server rules, whether they see the door or not.

No. He's not asking if it'll be joiner friendly.

As for the syncing, hmmm. It may. Not sure. Best way is to test. It's obviously a machine, but IDK if machines would sync, since they were never intended to be in MP games.

Actually I had a friend that tried to do doors in multiplayer. I can ask him for a solution if he ever got one. I remember him having some trouble with making all the doors open separately because if he went near one, they all opened. I will get back to you.

Joiner Friendly: No

Syncing: Possibly

In CE doors DO work, if you use a device, not scenery.
I have done it, and it DOES sync.

My friend use machine tags, not sure if that is the same thing you are referring to as a device.

Yeah, it's a machine tag.

It does infact sync (as previously stated). It syncs becuase it is in in reaction to a syncing object, the player. All the maps know that player1 is at location X, so if the door is by location X it goes "oh, hey theres a player here i need to open." The door itselfs does NOT sync, but its actions DO sync as they are a reaction to a syncing thing.
