New Main Menu

If I wanted to make a completely new main menu (still in space, mind you) for Halo PC, would it be a viable method to:

A) Make the initial map in CE as a large box with a space texture.

B) Merge the space-object to be the focal point with the map and place it in the center of the box, then attach it to the reference frame.

C) Export the map and, using sapien, change tags etc. to make it a UI.map menu file.

D) Convert to PC.

So is the above missing any vital steps, or is there a better way to go about this?

so the only difference is you want it to be just space?

just null the dependancy for the ring, and if you want do so with the planets bitmap dependancy as well.

And this'd be better in CE section

Bungie didn't even use a bsp...So I don't know why you would.

Yes, bungie did use a BSP.
Just open up UI.map in guerrilla, replace the space bsp with yours and export.
If it doesn't work, just keep experimenting.

I want a new space object with a different number of vertices and indices than the halo. I will create a new BSP if I have to, but the goal is to replace the halo with a... different object.

Make it a Corvette floating in mid space, year 1969, make it a stingray model also! It would be 1337 if there was a 19 on it also!

And also modify camera coodinates.

The BSP is the level itself, which I'm fairly certain doesn't include the halo, which has its own model. I don't want to change the level or camera angles, I want to change the halo by substituting my own, new model.

All I really need is assurance that the method in the original post would lead to the desired result.

There is a tag for the BSP, but if you export it as an obj there are no verts in that model.

Then open the map in sapien delete the halo and replace it with your object and then convert it to Halo pc.

Oh, so I can just use Bungie's BSP and only edit the Halo? Cool. So to edit with sapien I would convert the Halo PC map to CE, edit it and convert back? I want singleplayer to still be an option, and the CE map doesn't have that.

Ok, I see how this could work as well. Thanks, guys!
