Skins Problem

Hey guys, been a while since I've been on the forums here. Anyway, I just wanted to ask if theres any sertan way I need to folow for me to replace my bitmaps.map file in the Halo PC Maps Folder.
The thing is, Im just geting tired of the same old ugly skins that I currently have on, and I want them to be default again, but im having trouble geting there.....
You see, what ever I try, the skins are back.
I've tried deleting it, and replacing it with another bitmaps.map file that I know dosent have skins. I start up halo, it works. I close it down, and start it back up, and guess what? they're back.
I've tried uninstalling, same thing happens.
I've tried geting the original skins in a .dds file, but so far I wasent able to find any.
Any help here would be appreshiated.
My system specs: Windows Vista Home Premium, Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86 GHz Each, nVidia Gefore 8800 GT w/ latest drivers installed.
