Theory about models
Theory about models
I am just throwing this out here, because I just thought of it, but lets say I use the Banshee, I remodel that to look like a gun, then tell the Assault Rifle to use the Banshee one as its model, would that work? because I am just thinking that something like the Banshee or Pelican would have more verts to work with than lets say, the pistol or something. Would this work or not?
I'm going to seem like a noob now as well, because I would suggest using CE to move the animation point things around, but then you may as well make a new model and... meh.
For anybody still wondering where FTD has gone, here it is.

No. It wouldn't work. You couldn't do this. If you do what Philly suggested, I still dont think it would work, because animations move the seperate parts of the model, which means that you'd have to make several seperate parts of the banshee model (the clip, main gun, safety, slide, and probably some other things) and even then the animations wouldn't match up.
It would be cool, but It's impossible.
Can't MAC's import custom models? I saw it somewhere.

yes, I think they can, but like I said I don't do models, I was just curious.DeadHamster wrote:No. It wouldn't work. You couldn't do this. no. there is no way you can get the animation to work. reason is cuz you don't have the correct amount of nodes and nodes name are different. you're better off making a custom model in 3ds/gmax(depending on your budget) and macs can import custom models but i haven't found any good modeling program that support mac.

Just to add to this discussion. Animations are made of nodes or bones. And vertices are then weighted onto the nodes or bones. thats how animations work....its not moving of the model. Its the moving of a bone or node which causes the model to move. in this picture i made...i just moved some bones around...i didnt animate how ever. but youll get the picture.

Yes, animations are not made from moving the mesh or the bones, but the bones nodes, though usually, there is a skeleton linked to nodes to make animating much easier. The reason it's easier is that you can see what you're doing. Say there was a right foot you wanted to animate, so instead of moving the skeleton that is rigged to your mesh, you would move a skeleton linked to the right foot's node and making halo know that this need to move there from the node. So animations are just the movement of nodes that are hooked up to your model. I think dats right.

Stop being so damn cocky and acting like you know anything about modding, because the truth is, you don't. Any person with true sense would move on to CE because of harbinger being released.bigshot007 wrote:I am glad, but this isnt the place to be talking about CE.\Cryticfarm wrote:I do.bigshot007 wrote:But, who wants to mess with CE.

I agree, CE is better! But this just isn't the place to be doing it. My point to say was: Trying to do some of the stuff in pc is just much easer in CE. After its done you can just convert. Wasn't trying to be cocky, sorry if thats how it came out.Mr.Brightside wrote:Stop being so damn cocky and acting like you know anything about modding, because the truth is, you don't.
