hmm, Modeling programs

Post by ryan_mckenzie »

ello. I wanted to mod the bloodgulch bases. I've managed to export the map through spark, as an .obj file. I've imported the file into gmax. But i'm not too sure about gmax. It doesn't look too flexible, and i'm getting strange camera veiws, where the walls are taken away depending on your current view, which is making life difficult to model.
Anywayz, isn't there another program i could use. I'm experienced with autocad, and it would be great if i could modify with that.

Milkshape 3D. Easy to use and cheap to buy.

No, but modeling in milkshape is basically the same for everything.

Notes

Halo PC models can not have added polies/vertix, they can only be smashed (Ctrl Y + X + Z) so they can not be seen or moved around.

Halo Mac models they can be.

Milkshape is extremely easy to learn.

Well, ok. But supposing i take the BG map.obj and edit it, then export as obj.

How do i put it back into halo??
Wouldn't i also have to reset the collision boundries and re texturize. I'm very new to 3d modifying, so any basic understanding provided would be brill

Maybe f i give u some info on what i want to do. I want to take the BG bases and subtract some parts and insert windows.

in HMT

find [mod2] model (PC)

Find which model you edited.

Inject! (world models/3rd person models have multi models in a model (once you click a model and see the little box you'll understand) the higher the number the less detail. (Called Sub-objects)

thanks. But will this correct collision?? and what about texturing?

I think it would be really helpful if someone could give me a quick guide to basic remodeling.
There doesn't seem to be much good tutorials.

No about collision. :(

For bitmaps

[bitm] bitmap. They use DXT, (DXT1-5 with some other fancy DXTs for hud parts. No biggie)
