Possible to MP multiple models?

Post by ethteck »

Is it possible to be able to play as different models (grunt, elite, MC) in the same map? I was wondering if it could be done server side to where if all people had the same .map file everyone could see each other as different models. Would it involve changing the UI to be able to pick a character to play? Would we be able to use the colors MC has to change the models? Sorry if I sound noobish. I just don't know how to do this and I was wondering if someone can give me an idea of how it's done.

so what your saying is that a level (lets say blood gulch) and have all of the models of "people" put into it and have the computer pick one and play as that "person"?

I don't think so and if we did we would have to add code so the computer will not kill it self picking one

ah yes but that has the models picked out for the side and the computer does not have to pick one fore the joining player, but maybe we can do it (^maybe bcnipod can^)

um, no?

you should not have to do anything, because the server host's computer automatically will decide what team a joining player is on.

Just for the record, you play as a biped, not a model, as to avoid confusion later.
For anybody still wondering where FTD has gone, here it is.

Thanks, everyone. Maybe I should rephrase. I was wondering if the player upon entering the map can choose if they want to play as MC, a grunt, elite, or other character. I'm talking about where if we were, say, making a movie, we could have someone play as a grunt. Maybe you understand more? My friend blue_goomba will join the thread in a sec..maybe he can explain better.
