I decided to reinstall halo cause i was tired of goin through the hasle to make CE maps, any way, i put disc in once it installed good and i started modding, except it still had all the information from about 2 years ago when i had it on my laptop last, and so i went to check it out and odly enough it gave me an exception error, so i went to see what was wrong, after 3 hours of trying to fix it i decided to re install completly, but when i did it gave me and error saying that it could not install sidwinder.map, so iclicked retry, then it gave me an error on timberland, and thats as far as i can get, i have checked, and rechecked, and rechecked, but there is no data of halo in my program files/microsoft games director, i even got rid of all hidden files/folders and still there is a problem please will some one help me, if not then i am DOOMED!!!

sounds to me that you have a scratched CD. Typicly when it gives you an error on maps, like in all games, it means you have a scratched CD. At least from what you are describing.

If Bigshot is correct then just go buy a new disk at Best Buy or Wal Mart, they're not too expensive
