Bumpmaps

Hi agian. I am trying to bumpmap the pistol but the only way i can get it bumpmapped is if it will just be blue (normal map filter program makes the file blue). Can anyone help (Pepsi, pleassssssseee....)?

Halo 1 doestn use normal maps. They only use normal maps in the water. Halo 1 runs on black and white bump maps with multipurpose maps.

But water also has a reflection. o.O
Prehaps I can get round to duplicating a few shaders and making a bump mapped hog with a multi. :?

Water would just be a transparent plane without a normal map. Look at the ripple map of the halo CE water shader and youll see that there is a 32 bit normal map in the ripple slot. Multipurpose maps store information on reflective areas and self illumination.

I know what shaders are, thankyou. Prehaps a shader from beavercreak, which actually uses a texture, not just a load of bumpmaps?

Shader environment doesnt use multi it uses bumps. Shader_models dont use bump maps but they use multi.

Don't worry about this anymore, i found a tut (by pepsi) that helped alot. Thanks anyway.

On an off topic note, great sig philly, you either learnet that from brainiac science abuse (where i got it from) or QI.
