I was messing around making a mod and then I put it back to normal but now it comes back on its own. I was even hosting a game while the mod came back and it kicked everyone out and closed the game saying exception! I have no clue why it does this but some info, I did put it on console/dev mode before, and I have Vista. I have even re-installed it before and it worked then came back like I said. Thanks for any help!

Completely ge rid of any to do with the mod along with the mod. Then uninstall Halo. Then install it again.

You sure your backups are perfectly clean? I've had it happen to me where I pasted a mod into my backups folder and didn't notice.

Ok tutorial with no pics.
1: put in the halo disk
2: wait for the screen to come up
3: click add/remove
4: click UNINSTALL not REinstall
5: go through the process of uninstalling the halo
6: INSTALL the game again and everything is fixed.

I totally fixed it even more than I thought!! The mod is gone now and I managed to get rid of it in the console/dev mode! It was showing up no matter what in dev mode and was fixed temporarily without dev mode on. All I did was un-install then installed but, changed the directory from, "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games", to "C:\Program Files\Halo1"

I was thinking something like that because thats how I came to changing the directory because I thought something could be writing to that folder.

yea, but i was speculating on what could have cause the problem to begin with. you know.. for future use if someone "searches" for this issue (hahaha.. someone using search) they might find a little more info besides installing in a new directory/file path.

I don't think you needed to do any uninstalling or reinstalling. Just run "D:"
and click on FilesCab. unzip each of those Cabs and copy all of the .map files into you halo/MAPS folder. Sometimes when you reinstall it keeps the maps you have, meaning a huge waste of time. Now you probably have a bunch of wasted disc space.
