no rebuilding for lobby use..
no rebuilding for lobby use..
im simply making this topic for future reference to thoes people who make a modded map and get exceptions when trying to use that map online.
ill update the list as i work through the redux directors edition and my findings.
what does this mean exactally..
this is stating that if you make a modded map using hmt to rebuild, that map will not work in regular lobby servers. even if nothing is added to the map, just simply rebuilding it alone, it sill will not work in regular halo lobby servers. this in turn means if someone joins your home server they will have to have the exact map or they will except also when joining your game. im finding this out the hard way so im trying to put something up for future references.
chillout:
its been debated and no one is still sure why this happens but it does.
sidewinder:
due to the missing tree error the halo lobby servers wont recognize the map as valid and except you. and yes, it still does it when adding the tree to the build.
icefields:
the same as sidewinder.
beavercreek:
i found this out tonight and im a little pissed at myself since i went ahead and did all the pmi work, placed it all, changed everything, looked awesome in my home server then i went to test it lobby side and excepted. ughh.. im going to offer the map in downloads anyways thoe.
wizard:
cause it simply hates me. tried to join a lobby game with a rebuild with nothing added or new bsp's ect.. and exception. cant do this one either.
prisoner:
no clue on this one either.
if anyone has a solution to this problem then inject some help. make sure you read what i said cause people think cause they rebuild and go to "create a game" it works. it does for home use.. but not in lobby.

Life is not how you survive the storm, but how you dance in the rain
did you try fixing the broken XML file with notepad? (it's HMT's fault, not eh maps, so if you correct the error it should work like any other map)pepsi711 wrote:when you do that the server side looks for it and boots you. screwed either way..
find the broken dependencies XML files and open them with notepad. fix the path and HMT will be able to find the tree tags during rebuild....
edit: if i remember correctly, that way is a permanent fix, not just a temporary solution like adding the tree in the rebuild.

..and the pelicans, dropships, longswords, and alot of other things if you kill the right tags. i posted this like 2 weeks ago in the redux thread..UntalkativeBunny wrote:I do not know if you guys have tried or not, but putting that new Master Chief model (Jahrain's) in Deathisland, and not changing ANYTHING else, you can join a deathisland server and play normally without any lag.
EDIT:
put wizard on the list too..

i have a theory, aren't most of these maps you have problems with the new maps they included in the PC version of Halo? because i thought the original xbox version maps were just ported from xbox, and put in the pc version...maybe the xbox maps were made differently from the new ones designed for PC?

HHT is infact better then HMT. Just nobody know about or makes plugins for the tag editor. Also, you can batch extract with HHT you know.DeadHamster wrote:Who are you?Andrew_b wrote:try hht.
Is that you, honestly suggesting to use HHT? Don't you hate that program with a passion? Haven't you posted topics just to prove you don't need to use it?
This is madness.

I hate that program with a passion, but i hate macs with a passion and they can convert ce maps. one things pcs cant do in under 20 mins.DeadHamster wrote:...but I was saying that Andrew_b hates using that program, and so him suggesting it is surprising.
I have a feeling hht will work because i think hht was made after hmt 3.5 was made. which means some bugs might have been taken out of the hmt rebuilder when it was put into hht.
