problem with inject a texture

so im trying to work on this mod thats pretty extensive and the problem im having is the correct save status for the texture for..

vehicles\warthogs\bitmaps\headlights gel warthog

it says its R5G6B5 and after looking it up the closest thing i can find to being correct is saving as..

the dss saves and injects, but when i do go to inject it theres a prompt that says my file has less data and will resize.

when i go into game to test the hog lights in front work but the light surrounding the hog is all corrupted. it almost looks like there is a discoball hanging from under my hog.

am i not saving this correct or is there something im missing?

can someone try to edit this bitmap and see if they can inject it into game without flaws?

Hm, I really have no clue... I guess whenever I tried to change the headlight colors, I just changed the shader.

yea, the shader is the simple part, but im trying to actually change the color of the reflective surface on things.

example..

you make your lights blue, theres blue all around you, the lights on walls and the ground directly in front of you will be the white/opaque color still.

i need to edit this file for what im trying to do thoe.

Oh, okay... Well, I am no help to you then, because I never explored this area of modding. :?
