So confused with PPF

Ok I am a Halo Trial modder and I use HMT 3.5 heavily. I'v been modding for quiet some time now and I STILL DON'T have a clue about what the heck a .ppf file is. How do you make them? What is a patch? Why do you need the original map file and a modded version to make a ppf file? What can't you just use a single .map file? I'm so confused and I already searched the forums and web for some answers but I'm still clueless...

Can someone explain me this mess like I were a 4 year old? I already downloaded HHT, PPF Studio 1.01 beta and a sparkify kit...

Can someone explain these things to me? I just want to edit my bloodgulch.map file from halo trial with HHT but I understand I need to use .ppf files or something...then I have to put em back together or something..

anywho I'm really confused. If someone can show me how I can edit my bloodgulch.map file in HHT/find out what ppf files are and how to use them to edit my bloodgulch.map file in HHT and..bring it back together or something then that would be great :-)

(Sorry if my typing seems like a bunch of gibberish)

ok to install a ppf file you need ppf-o-matic

to make one you need ppf studio.

to install...its self explanitory (but install to a map, not a bin file)

to make one there is a tut in the tutorials section.

a ppf requires the modded file and the original file, it finds out what is different between the two and puts it on a separate file, to be put into another mod without erasing other things.

check the tutorials section of halomods.com or the tutorials section of the forums at the website in my signature.

So in short..a ".ppf" file is file that contains the difference between a modded and unmodded map file right?

pretty much and it applies those differences to the unmodded map
