I modded a map with hmt but when i go to start the game it wont let me.

Make sure that once your done making the changes to your map that you hit File-->Close in HMT. Otherwise Halo will not load because it can't read a map file.

I just added a flag skin to a sniper but none of my maps will load.

i do close it, but when i go to start game it wont let me start on any the maps, even the ones unmodded.

try replacing the exe. and phenomena clean up your site it's a mess.

no the names arent grayed, its just when i click start game nothin happens at all.
