Flaming Contrails

im sorry if this question has been asked, but ill ask it anway.
1) Is there a way to make the banshee have a flaim contrail when its in the air?
2) Is it possible to have the sniper rifle bullet have a flame contrail?
3) Is it possible to make the master chief walk and make flames as he walks?

If anyone has answers to these questions please tell me.

flameing contrail tut.

- open the map in HHT

- in HHT goto the "cont" tag and select rocket launcher contrail. find the bitmaps related too smoke and swap them for the defoliant bitmaps for the flamethrower. this will make flames come out of the rockets contrail.

- open the map in HMT

- swap the sniper and banshee contrails for the Rocket launcher contrail.

- hit save and done!

ok, on the HMT part do u mean swap the meta's? becuase i dont think i did that and it didnt work. Also on the HHT part i did swap bitm: then the Cloud Smoke or something and that did it, but it when i tried to swap meta's it wont show fire for contrails. so anymore advice would be greatly appreciated.

ok, whats the exact bitmap i swap? because i dont see flamethrower defoilent under bitmap, i only see that under particl system.

weapons\flamethower\cloud fire

not totally sure but im 99%

dont swap the bitmap metas, swap the contrail meta in the [cont] tag.

ok, im totally lost here, under HHT, you swap the bitmap of the the Rocket Exhaust and use Cloud Fire. i did that and the rocket produced a nice firey contrail. Then under HMT i do what? Becuase when i swapped the metas of the [Cont] tags it still didnt work.

ok try this.

once you get the rocket contrail nice and firey goto the banshee vehi tag and swap teh cont tag that says vehicles\banshee\wingtip for the rocket\exhasst\ contrail and hit swap and then save.

maybe that will work :D

and for makeing flames as the mc walks.. not possible i think. unless you attatch flames to his feet in milkshape and make bitmaps :P :P :P

ok i didnt get the fire right, it turns out that i had the rocket under particle system swapped with the flamethrower defoliant 3. So i swapped the bitmaps in HHT after i reset the effects of the rocket launcher in HMT, im not getting the firey effect. so if you or fishface could maybe demonste this with pictures or something that would be nice. im sorry im totally not getting this and/or not doing this right, but i need lots of help for things like this. Thank you for ur help.

huh picture isnt working, but i think i know what you got, is it like the contrail in like hundreds of little pictues of fire or some thing? like a 4xn in a long stream of pictures?

i think i found the solution :D but you need the .dds file importer for gimp get that and post back and ill tell you how too do it. :D

hey i dont have it, but i do have photoshop CS2, and that had dds in it, so can i do that? wait nvm, i need gimp cus thats how its done, h/o

uhh foto shop works also. but anyway just import the bitmaps for the rocketlauncher contrail and edit them so they look like flames. the cloud fire bittmaps are a different size from the rocket ones thats why they were all messed up. :roll:

and if you do get taht too work can you upload em for me ? i would like that.

ok i no im double posting, but how do u get the texture out? cus wen i did full batch extract and checked textures etc. i couldnt find a dds. Could u tell me where to find it or how to get it...wait nvm, do i have to import a new one through HHT?

heres a tut

open HMT

open the map with the .dds you want too edit.

goto the bitmap tag

select the bitmap you want too edit

click the "save textrue" button
(this will save a .dds image)

edit the image in fotoshop

then hit inject texture and select the edited .dds image.

done :D
