Metal Platforms GOING UNDERGROUND?

OKAY... Why can't I put the metal platform a little underground? Whenever I try, then I play Blood gulch, the one that went a little underground is gone! Can anyone help?

Search Results (ok, not really, its just what i know.):

if you but a block too far under ground, it will disappear. but it shouldnt disappear if you just put it under the ground a little.

if the vertex(the place where the 3 lines meet)is under ground or in another object it will disapear.

no, I checked this with those shrub things, and I could put them underground... it's probably something like that
