343 Guilty Spark MP Conversion
343 Guilty Spark MP Conversion
The idea here is I want to make a multi player map out of the last section of 343 Guilty Spark (the second outdoor area), as it seems to have great potential considering the amount of hiding places and foliage it has. Furthermore it also has two distinct sides, making it ideal for team matches.
Firstly, I asked for help on the help boards, but either no one knows or no one's telling, because nobody seemed to be able to answer the SP to MP conversion question (How to do it).
Secondly, has anyone done this specific section of it before?
Give me feedback and pointers if you can.

I have been wanting to do this particular conversion for a very long time. If you want I can work with you on it, I was planning on doing it in CE and converting it back to PC, but I want to resking the level as well. I agree though, this particular bsp has great potential. AIM me tonight if you want to work on it, I should be on around 5.

So here's my new account, I was SilentKnight064
SP>MP isn't hard but as far as i know it is impossible to do this particular bsp (at least the outside part which you want) and also the second map "halo" because it is also outside.
it will give you an exception anytime you either walk outside or just look at it
there are many tutorials for HMT that show how to do SP>MP conversions
as well as pmi'ing. it's important that you learn to pmi too...because wen you do a sp>mp conversion you get the map and nothing else...no bushes or trees or anything...you have to pmi those in manualy while you do the conversion and add them urself. most maps are available to convert however
the "a" part of the bsp in each map (less halo and spark) will convert without errors. but the b, c, etc parts of the bsp require hexing. idk how to do this yet
p.s. you ARE talking about hpc right? not ce?

Thanks for the interest Elek, but uhhh... what time zone?
Babel, can you elaborate on that at all? What's wrong with the outside levels? I think it has to do with the fact that you simply don't have the sky meta, which with a tad of PMIing (Which I can do), is not difficult. Unless there's a different reason that seems fairly solvable.
As for bushes and stuff, I can PMI those in, but if you look at 343 GS, you'll see that most of the trees and brush are actually part of the level. There are a few to PMI in, but the majority of it is part of the level.

DUH! HMT 3.5 comes with a tutorial! Sorry about that. Ugh I feel like an idiot.
UPDATE: I found an outdoor multiplayer level: http://halo.levels4you.com/downloads.l4y?file=14661
(You must be a member of L4Y. It's free, just register.)
The creator's sn is dalto12593. I've been trying to get in contact with him, but he's very seclusive. No mention of his user name provides any contact details.
Anyways, the level is a conversion of the first outdoor area of AotCR, and while the sky is too dark to see, firing a rocket up there shows that there is no limit. Once again, I can open the map file with HMT only, but this time I can play it in Halo.
-------------------
PS: Although it has really odd glitches
After sticking myself with a plasma grenade, then immediately pressing pause, it rained covenant turrets and a warthog. The hog wasn't so weird, but the TURRETS... some were activated with no users, some were normal, and others were... well have a look.

CLOAKED! The cloaked ones and the activated ones both fired continuously after the first shot, even when you climbed out!

And the cloaked ones cloaked you as well! And they moved around randomly on their own! And you can flip them, something usually only in SP, but they do not respond to explosions, something that IS in SP.

Needless to say, this is a WEIRD glitch. Ghost turrets!

I'm getting this error. And I followed his tutorial to the letter (only substituting AotCR with 343GS) TWICE... and one more time with an indoor map. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. The map opens in HMT but not SparkEdit or HHT.MonoxideC wrote:If you are getting the "seek failed on unnamed file" in sparkedit, it isn't because of this bug. It is because you aren't following the tutorial exactly and are either (a) not copying one of the files near the end of the tut, or (b) not choosing the right files for one or more of the prompts that you get during the rebuild.

for the "out side level" problem.
I think it has something to do with when it loads or is told to load which bsp, since theres only 1 bsp on the map at a time.
theres a hex editing tutorial on how to fix it.

BAN ME, YOUR AN ASSHOLE.
i forgot to say wat i meant by "outdoor"
sorry about that
i guess...wat i mean is that there is no walls surrounding the play area
like most of the levels (like aotcr) are outside BUT they have mountains so technically they would be reffered to as indoor maps.
and i think i DID say taht it is still possible to convert these maps thru hex editing like crackcocaine posted
hope this cleared a few things up at least :p
