HaloMods "Classic" Read-only Archive

I know this has probably popped up millons of times before, but I am some how unable to find these posts.

I am very interested in modding halo, but need some one to help me get the basics down, it would be great if someone was willing to give me a walkthrough, or point me to one that was very detailed.
