Reinstall with the new one. You can't do it once it's installed.

Yea, I think he means that his bro is using his CD Key, and he got a second one for himself so they could play each other. He'd have to reinstall to use the new one.....Oh, and HALO does look at your CD-Key...that's how micro$oft makes you buy a new copy for each computer...if you try to set up a LAN or internet game with copies of the same game on all the comps, the host will make the game, then the rest won't be able to join b/c of "Invalid CD Key". Trust me, I know...I tried this once. :P

From my understanding, Halo actually sends your DigitalProductID to the Gamespy servers for authentication. Your DigitalProductID is obviously not your actual CD key so you can't just change that to your new CDKey.

It looks like the DigitalProductID is generated at install time, and your actual CDKey is not kept anywhere on your computer. Which is intelligent; this way if your system's security is compromised, the attacker cannot simply check the registry and steal your Halo CDKey like they can do for lots of other games (Half-Life for example.)

So it looks like you're gonna have to reinstall if you want to change to a different CDKey.

you dont need to hack the disk, just look around in the Halo files... one or another should contain your CD key, unless that info is encrypted...

Thanks for totally disregarding my post. You'd have to reverse engineer the algorithim used to create the DigitalProductID from the CD key.

oh... whoops, sorry Kaptain...

anyway, I was just going on because Equinox was saying something about the cd, when the CD key in most games is usually stored on the HD...
