The map a whole ring? Impossible, it's huge!
As for activating Halo, that should be pretty cool. You'd have to make a new machine, kinda, but it's definitely a cool idea.

wat!!!! r u serious but that will be so awsome becuse u can find the pillar of autmn full of flood and ded people. hehehe i wanna drive the longsword
and all those other vehicles in there. i woner if u can fly up into the other side of the ring and fly off into space and find the second halo or fly to earth.

EDIT: i got another idea. make teleporter to other levels in the halo ring map. or u can juts walk a year long around the halo.

I think mapping the entire ring of Halo to our liking DOES sound like a good idea BUT very difficult. I am actually really liking this idea. If we could put together some sort of team to make multiple maps, we can make a single Mutliplayer Map that works like a Single Player Map (if you notice, SP maps are actually broken into pieces). This will make such a large map possible and it would reduce some lag (I assume...).

Now if such a thing was done, understand it would probably be the worst map for normal Halo Gameplay. It would be a map either used for fun/exploration or for long-term battles/gameplay. I like this idea and if we find a way to make it possible, count me in, I'd love to help!

EDIT: Also, I want to point out that this would be as realistic as possible. No long term teleporting. If you want to get to the other side of the ring, you would fly, walking is an option that would take forever. Plus, we will include the underground tunnels that Halo has all over the ring. Another cool idea (that I came up with for Blood Gulch a long time ago) is to add AI alien creatues, like animals native to the ring, that roam around in their designated areas. Just some extra thought.

Oh definatly. I am actually thinking of this as an actual project now. All building destructable. Multiple enviornments (ie. Desert, Snowy, Plains, Canyons, Mountains, and the Flood containment areas). We can also include several temples. To make mapping easier, we can/will place each map (both Single Player and Multiplayer) that has already been made into the ring world.

For vehicles, we would use Pelicans, Appirations and Bumblebees (since they are already in the game). If needed, later we can add Longsword and Seraph fighters as well as possible travel through space with such vehicles.

Also, I was thinking about the size. In reality, the first discovered Halo was (I think) 10,000 km around. That is humangorgousely big (yes I just made up that word :D ). Then I got to remembering the end of the Halo2 Campaign. There was a holo picture of the seven rings, they were all different sizes. If we do model this map, it will be of the smallest ring to make things easier of the creators.

I also thought of the perfect game for this, named 'Lost' or 'Survival'. You basically have various start points all over the ring. You mission is to regroup with the rest of the players in the game. Because of the size and diversity of our imaginative level, this would be a very difficult task. To add to this mission, everyone starting weapon will be a Flare Gun that only has one (maybe two) flares. With minimul communication between the players and only one (maybe two) flares to locate, and dangerous creatures native to the ring world roaming around (which include the Flood), this would be one intense game.

EDIT:
I forgot to mention one (or two) vast oceans and boats to cross them.

this would take a HUGE team to make, but it'd rock. one thing you could do is use already existing halo maps, just take em' from halo and plop em' into where you want. you could even (concievably) make it possible to go into, and out of, the pillar of Autumn, which would be destroyable, and once destroyed, crashes into the ring, destroying a good deal of people on it, and make a big fleet and all that crap, oh man, it'd rock, but, I can't map, so I have no idea how anything works
good luck, if you decide to try it.

I was thinking of that but it makes more sense to worry about cunstructing the map before worrying about AI.

Yeah, we boarded some Covenant Cruisers and hijacked some Longbow Fighters from the UNSC, and discovered some new vehicles.
